FAQ

The naturalization test is an official exam that assesses your knowledge of life in Germany, including its history, laws, politics, and cultural values. It's required for certain residence permits and for obtaining German citizenship.
You need to take the test if you are applying for a permanent residence permit (Niederlassungserlaubnis), German citizenship, or if you need to demonstrate integration into German society.
The “Leben in Deutschland” test and the Einbürgerungstest are closely related, but used for different legal purposes: The “Leben in Deutschland” test is part of the integration course and is used primarily to prove knowledge of German society, law, and culture. You need 15 correct answers out of 33 questions to pass. The Einbürgerungstest is specifically for those applying for German citizenship or permanent residence permit (Niederlassungserlaubnis) and does not require an integration course. The exam structure is similar.
The test consists of 33 multiple-choice questions, and you have 60 minutes to complete it. Each question has four answer options, but only one is correct. To pass, you must answer at least 17 questions correctly. The test is conducted in German at certified testing centers like the Volkshochschule (VHS).
The app supports multiple languages for preparation, including German, English, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, Turkish, and Farsi. Additional languages will be added in future updates. However note that the exam is conducted only in German, so you should be comfortable with the language to take the test.
To prepare effectively, study the official 300 federal questions and the 10–30 questions specific to your federal state. Review topics like German law, history, and democracy. Practice with mock tests to get familiar with the exam format. Attending integration courses can also be helpful.
No, once installed, the app works offline.
